Change of plans

It is not often things goes as planned when you have dogs. We were supposed to be in Alvarado, TX today for dogshow, but it is 7:45 am and we will not go anywhere. The plan was to bring Shannon and Do-Re-Mi (from Daimilus Kennel). In the middle of the week Do-Re-Mi got sick, had diarrhea and was limping strangely on his hind leg. It was decided already then that Do-Re-Mi wouldn’t go to the show even if he was better.

On Thursday, next thing appears… Shannon goes into heat. And there was that show. To go to a show with a bitch in heat is not really a good thing. Not for the other dogs or her. So it was just to realize that we will not go anywhere today :(

We entered Shannon to the show on Friday December 9th in Dallas. The day after we entered her Cilla was told that she will not get the day off as promised, she has to go to class so that means that the Dallas Dog Show will be cancelled too. It really feels bad that Shannon gets “suffered” all the time, but there is nothing we can do. We might try to find help to show Shannon that day, since we have her entered but nothing is decided yet…

We got a lovely picture by mail of Lyla, one of the puppies in the last litter. She is doing great in her new family

We just love to get updates from the puppybuyers. We hope that we will be able to scan and post all Christmas cards we get too!

No big news

It is getting colder, the dogs are shedding a lot right now, specially the Saint Bernhard’s. It seems like Shannon is on her way into heat soon. She decided to go for a walk on her own the other day. She was gone for about 40 minutes until we found her, coming form Hwy 80. Guess she only went to the Christmas tree farm but anyway. It was dark and she scared us all with not coming when we called her. Had to go out with the car and look for her. So now it is leash for a while after dark…

She is entered to the show in Alvarado on November 27th. It will be so much fun to come back in the ring again, even if we might not have anything to get there but just the environment of a dogshow is awesome!

Today it is Tango’s Breeders birthday so we want to wish her Happy Birthday too!

Other than that it hasn’t happened that much…

@ The Vet

Tango is 3.5 months old… He had to go to the vet yesterday to get antibiotics to a small wound he has under his eye, probably another dog that bit him and when we anyway was there we gave him his first Rabies shot. His weight: 51,4 lbs. Need to get Shannon to a vet so I know her weight just for fun.
Tango was a really good boy. He gets a little bit car sick but nothing bad. Not throwing up or anything, you can just tell that he is not comfortable driving. He was really proud when he got home. What was very funny was that Shannon was very jealous and she wanted to go somewhere too so we had to get her in the car and take her around the block too. Spoiled dog? NOOO WAY. Then she was a happy dog and could go to sleep for a while. She really likes to go in the car and see things. The dogshows are always good for her ;) She is totally knocked out when we get home!

Dog show plans

We have made some plans for upcoming dog shows! The only dog we have right at the moment to show is Shannon. She has a disadvantage of having natural ears but we don’t care. We will enter her to the dogshow in Alvarado, TX, November 26th and 27th. It is about 1.5 hour drive from us so it is not too bad.

Then in December it is the dog show in Dallas, TX, December 10th and 11th that we also will enter her. Hopefully this will be possible even if Cilla (who handles Shannon) has a change in her schedule at work. She works at Terrell PD as a dispatcher and you never know when they changes schedules there… But since this two shows aren’t that far away it might be possible to show her both days. If anyone is interested in coming along, maybe learn more about a dog show or just have fun with dogs one day, just let us know! You might get addicted to it!

Shannon & Tango

My daughter Cilla got a new lens to her camera today. She is the one taking most of the pictures to this blog. Shannon and Tango had to be her models for today, weather they wanted it or not…

Tango had to try his costume for Halloween… he did NOT like it at all.. but he is cute in it!

The two last puppies (English Cocker Spaniels) will leave for Chicago tomorrow! One of them will stay with Nite Wind’s Kennels and one will go to a new family. They both passed their vet exam earlier today so they are ready to go tomorrow around noon. It will be very empty without any puppies in the house but also nice to get back to “normal”. So the only puppies we have left on the farm is one Chocolate Labrador Retriever puppy that you can find on Daimilus Kennel’s blog

Good Socialization

We took Tango with us to a Ground Breaking Ceremony yesterday. We thought he needed to come out and get some socialization. Unfortunately we forgot the camera so we don’t have any pictures. Tango did very well anyway. It was a great practice for him. He needs to get out and get socialized without Shannon. We will take him to Scarecrow festival in Kaufman later today. That would be a great socialization for him too. Will try to remember the camera this time…

We will also have some more potential puppy buyers visiting later today. Will update you later on if anyone is leaving or maybe already left.

Did some more updates here on the page yesterday. You can now find the AKC Breed standard on both English Cocker and Great Dane. I will put in more information about our dogs too, but have to take good pictures of them…

Other than that – no news…
